There are many different options available for events management qualifications, this can be Higher Education, Intensive Short Courses and Apprenticeships, but as the events industry has no formal qualifications path it’s hard to know which course you should consider
Event management is one of those types of jobs that you need on the ground experience, it can be a high pressured environment and like any project there can be many different elements that need to come together at the same time. If you are looking to start a career in events and you have limited previous experience, it is worth considering starting out with a Higher Education event course so you can gain an introduction and understanding of event management. You may also want to consider an apprenticeship where you are gain experience whilst you learn which is a really good path to take if you are looking to start a career in this industry, or you can also this with online courses. There are also degree event management courses, that cover other areas of events and are great to mix with workplace experience to make sure this is the type of career for you.
You can also look at the option of project management courses, these types of qualifications are not event specific so you will still need event experience and some education on running events but you can find really useful tools available in project management course that can be used whilst planning events, this is also a transferrable qualification if you want to look at different areas in the events industry or other industries.
